The Panasonic FV-10VS1 WhisperValue 100 CFM fan features a round compatible oval duct that can be easily installed in a 2 by 4 construction. The unique shape of the duct also allows a higher CFM to be maintained. Because the fan housing is slimmer than conventional fans, it requires less ceiling cavity to be installed. With a housing depth of 3-3/4 inches, these super-slim fans minimize space requirements and installation time. It has a tapered Sirocco fan to deliver improved ventilation and reduce already incredibly low sone levels. I purchased this exhaust fan for a bathroom renovation. Based on what I read I thought this would be a good choice. I originally purchased a different fan, but it didn't work in my application. I needed a low profile fan to fit between the joists. I wanted it to be fairly quiet and, of course, handle the steamy air after a shower. It does a decent job, however, it takes a while for it to clear the air. A little disappointing as my bathroom is only 6X8 feet in size. Also, it isn't nearly as quiet as I had hoped. Does it sound like an aircraft coming in for a landing? No. Is it whisper quiet as the name implies? Definitely no. At best it is average. Not the best on the market, nor is it the worst. Because of that I really don't think it's worth what I paid for it. Way overpriced considering it's performance.

Looks like it is very well made and it can be found at a good price. Vey quiet and works very fast to remove humidity.
Seems a little better built then the Nutone , Broan units I have installed before. All good units use a squirral fan type for efficiency and noise reduction. If you shop around a little very good bargains can be had. Forget the 30 to50 dollar units they are noisy and you will want to replace them soon. This unit good for many many years.
Some complain about the low profile do to the connection that is oval shaped. At the local HD you can get a flexible connection that works very well for thr oval conversion to the 4 inch round.
I also have the 90 cfm Panasonic unit with the normal hook up for 4 inch round and a Nutone 80 CFM.
These larger units require morehead space . Attic excess would be prefferable.

Panasonic exhaust fans are, while pricier, hands down the best there is. Extremely quiet (I have hooked mine up to the bathroom light after leaving it on countless times because I couldn't hear it). Panasonic also has a good website that allows you to calculate which fan would be proper for the given room.
